Juan Rodríguez reviews the latest advances in research on the interactions between baculoviruses and their hosts, which has led to the development of new viral isolates with high efficacy, persistence and pathogenicity for the control of key pests in horticultural crops such as Helicoverpa armigera , Spodoptera exigua or more recently Tuta absoluta.

The paper tries to review the most recent experiences and the recommendations for the use of this new range of bioinsecticides in real cultivation situations.
